We all love the concept of the sugar shack, but not as much the long drive to the countryside.
Why not turn to urban sugar shacks?
The Borough of Ville Marie and the Éco-quartier of Peter-McGill organized an urban sugar bush at Cabot Square! This activity took place on Saturday, April 28, from 10 am to 4 pm. The idea of the urban sugar shack is to recreate the atmosphere of a sugar shack, but in the heart of Montreal.
The goal is to make this tradition accessible to everyone, especially those who can’t go to the very distant contryside sugar shacks.
This year again, the urban sugar shack was a great success.
Even though the weather was rather cool, 600 citizens were welcomed in a village in the heart of the city. They were able to enjoy pancakes and maple taffy, go on horse- drawn carriage rides, and have fun!
The Éco-quartier of Peter-McGill joined the event.
– WE HAVE NOTABLY ORGANIZED, A DISCUSSION ON ENTOMOPHAGIA WITH OUR SUPER WORMS.
– WE HAVE ALSO GIVEN TIPS AND TRICKS TO MAKE HOUSEHOLD CLEANING AND GARDENING ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY.
– FINALLY, WE ALSO BROUGHT OUR SMOOTHIE BIKE!
The smoothie bike is a tool that combines physical activity with simple and nutritious diet. This is a bike on which has been attached a mixer whose electrical part has been removed. The source of energy comes from the bike … and of course from its user! If you manage to pedal quickly and long enough, then the mixer gets the energy needed to make a delicious smoothie, with maple water. It is an awareness tool that we appreciate a lot. It is an original tool that promotes healthy lifestyle habits.
