The four Mange-trottoirs sidewalk garden containers that were installed by Éco-quartier Peter-McGill’s greening projects coordinator are flourishing!
They did get off to a rough start, having been ransacked soon after they were installed in June, which caused the loss of many edible plants (tomatoes, peppers, ground cherries, basil, parsley and others).
Sadly, this is the sort of thing that can happen. Especially in a densely populated downtown neighbourhood.
We took this setback in stride and decided to fill in the gaps with flowering plants attractive to pollinators.
Everything is growing well and residents are welcome to come and help themselves throughout the summer.
